Reading skills in math class

I came across a really interesting article today which proposes that "Mathematics has a reading protocol all its own, and just as we learn to read literature, we should learn to read mathematics." Most of the article consists of a dialogue between a strong mathematical reader and a weak mathematical reader as they work through a problem.

2010-2011 English II Course Overview

It's always incredibly satisfying to map what we have done at the end of a school year-- if only my prospective sight were as good as my retrospective. This seems to me a very good argument for collaboratively documenting and revising curriculum from year to year.
